Christian Tips To Age Gracefully

Christian Tips To Age Gracefully

“Even to your old age and gray hairs I am he, I am he who will sustain you. I have made you and I will carry you; I will sustain you and I will rescue you.” – Isaiah 46:4

Let’s face it! Aging is inevitable — it is designed by God to be part of our life. And, we can’t do anything to reverse the process and you have to deal with sagging and wrinkling skin along the way. Though aging seems daunting and inevitable, we can still do some ways to slow the process of it and you can still enjoy life while you age.

Here are some Christian tips to age gracefully according to the Bible.

Watch your diet and eat healthy foods.

“And God said, “Behold, I have given you every plant yielding seed that is on the face of all the earth, and every tree with seed in its fruit. You shall have them for food.” – Genesis 1:29

Practice healthy eating and avoid eating salty and oily foods. Eat more greens, vegetables, fruits and natural foods. Fruits and vegetables are rich in antioxidants that can reverse the sign of aging and can boost our immune system. “Every moving thing that lives shall be food for you. And as I gave you the green plants, I give you everything.” – Genesis 9:3. Thus, watch your calorie intake by having a meal plan and prepare it in your home. Having a meal plan,  and cooking your own meal is more efficient than eating out or buying ready to eat foods. Be a good steward and don’t spend too much money on food that is unhealthy.  “Why do you spend your money for that which is not bread, and your labor for that which does not satisfy? Listen diligently to me, and eat what is good, and delight yourselves in rich food.” – Isaiah 55:2

Take your soul supplement.

“But he answered, “It is written, “‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.’” – Matthew 4:4

This Bible passage tells us that we cannot live by bread alone, so feed your soul as well and meditate on the Word of God. Read your Bible, pray to God and grow your faith as a Christian. “A joyful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones.” – Proverbs 17:22. Enjoy the presence of God and do all things that can bring glory to God. You can also display some decorations in your home such as Motivational & Inspirational Perpetual Daily Flip Calendar or DaySpring Flip Calendar to remind you of God’s Word. This 2020 Calendars will also bring encouragement to your daily life as well. “May my meditation be pleasing to him, as I rejoice in the Lord.” – Psalm 104:34

Avoid stress.

“Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.” – 1 Peter 5:7

Stop overthinking and lift everything to God. Keep yourself busy and occupy your mind with good things such as the promises of God and His Words. “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” – John 14:27. Don’t be afraid and do something to alleviate your stress. Engage in some activities that can reduce stress, such as crocheting, Bible journaling, coloring books, gardening, writing poems or letters. Thus, you can also share the gospel to everyone by writing letters or sending Retro Blessings or Keep Calm and Trust God cards to your family, friends and coworkers. “He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.” – Mark 16:15

Keep hydrated.

“So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.” – 1 Corinthians 10:31

Stay hydrated and drink at least 8-10 glasses everyday. Drinking plenty of water can also reduce stroke and heart attack risk. It also improves the skin elasticity and metabolism. “Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me shall not hunger, and whoever believes in me shall never thirst.” – John 6:35. Also, ask God to fill your cup always and allow Him to sustain you everyday. Pause and make time with Him, surrender your cares and burdens to Him, ask for protection, motivation and inspiration to Him also.  “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.” – Romans 15:13

Maintain good personal hygiene.

“Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.” – 1 Corinthians 6:19-20

Be hygienic to minimize the risk of infection and to improve overall health. Shower daily, wash your hands, comb your hair and apply moisturizer on your face and body to make your skin hydrated and softer. “I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship.” – Romans 12:1. Protect your skin by wearing sunscreen daily or by using protective gear such as sunglasses, hat, cap to avoid damage from UV rays. “And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.” – Colossians 3:17

Be active as much as possible.

“For while bodily training is of some value, godliness is of value in every way, as it holds promise for the present life and also for the life to come.” – 1 Timothy 4:8

Keep yourself busy and sweat your stress out by exercising. Exercise at least 30 minutes per day — walk, run, do yoga or workouts in your home. But before you do any of these exercises, ask for your doctor’s permission first. “Do you not know that you are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit dwells in you? If anyone destroys God’s temple, God will destroy him. For God’s temple is holy, and you are that temple.” – 1 Corinthians 3:16-17. Spend more time with your family at home and play with your children. You can also encourage them to do household chores together or to revamp your room. “She watches over the affairs of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness.” – Proverbs 31:27

Lastly, get enough sleep everyday to keep your brain and body functioning well. Having an adequate amount of sleep can also help you to maintain healthy skin. Thus, if you are having a hard time to sleep at night — try to establish a relaxing routine before bedtime and practice it every night. And, remember to pray, leave your worries and fears to God and ask Him to take it away from you. Then, sleep with a peaceful heart and recharge your mind and body while you sleep.
