6 Reasons Why We Should Give and Share

“In everything I did, I showed you that by this kind of hard work we must help the weak, remembering the words the Lord Jesus himself said: ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’ ” – Acts 20:35

God wants us to be kind and generous to each other. And giving is an act of kindness that every Christian should practice throughout their lives because it is the Will of God for us and there is joy in giving and sharing your blessings. Thus, there are more reasons why we should give according to the Scripture.

Everything comes from God.

“Everything comes from the Lord. All things were made because of him and will return to him. Praise the Lord forever! Amen.” – Romans 11:36

Every blessing that we receive is from God because He is the creator and owner of everything in this world. “For the earth is the Lord’s, and the fulness thereof.” – 1 Corinthians 10:26. And, this is enough reason why we should give and share our blessings to others, because without Him, we are nothing and we cannot enjoy all the things that we have such as our lives, jobs and wealth. “The silver is mine, and the gold is mine, saith the LORD of hosts.” – Haggai 2:8

God commands us to give.

“Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.” – Galatians 6:2

God wants us to help others in need and to carry our brethren’s burdens. He also wants us to help our enemies too. “If your enemy is hungry, give him food to eat; if he is thirsty, give him water to drink.” – Proverbs 25:21-22. So, lend your hand to everyone in need and fulfill this will of God for us. Thus, don’t forget to give your tithes, offerings and pledges to the kingdom of God and appreciate your pastor that feeds the flock. “Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,” says the Lord Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it.” – Malachi 3:10

To be a vessel of God’s blessings.

“Every man shall give as he is able, according to the blessing of the Lord your God that he has given you.” – Deuteronomy 16:17

God gave us His overflowing blessings — He blessed us with the things that we need and sometimes he even gave us the things that we didn’t ask for or imagine. And, as the receiver of God’s blessings, we should be a vessel to share these blessings to others. You can also invite your loved ones and friends in your home this coming Thanksgiving and be their host and share what God has given you. God wants us to imitate Him and to let His light shine upon us through giving and doing good things to others. “Imitate God, therefore, in everything you do, because you are his dear children.” – Ephesians 5:1

It gives glory to God.

“You will be enriched in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion, and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God.” – 2 Corinthians 9:11

When you share your blessings to others, you lift God with your actions. It glorifies Him and it makes Him smile. Giving to others is also a declaration of God’s love. So, show your gratitude to God and bring thanksgiving to Him with your deeds. “Let them give thanks to the LORD for his unfailing love and his wonderful deeds for mankind, for he satisfies the thirsty and fills the hungry with good things.” – Psalm 107:8-9 Share your blessings with a grateful heart and bring glory to Him. “I will give thanks to you, LORD, with all my heart; I will tell of all your wonderful deeds.” – Psalm 9:1

It is an act of worship.

“And do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased.” – Hebrews 13:16

Giving is one way of obeying God’s Word and obedience is an act of worship which God pleases. So, give and worship God with your wealth — give generously, be kind to the people in need, extend your help, volunteer in your community and share your blessings to everyone. “Honor the Lord with your wealth and with the firstfruits of all your produce; then your barns will be filled with plenty, and your vats will be bursting with wine.” – Proverbs 3:9-10

God blesses a cheerful giver.

“Give generously to them and do so without a grudging heart; then because of this the Lord your God will bless you in all your work and in everything you put your hand to.” – Deuteronomy 15:10

Lastly, God blessed a cheerful giver, so we must give according to our hearts and we should do it with willingness. “Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.” – 2 Corinthians 9:7. And, by giving we will receive a reward from God — He will enrich us more so we can have the opportunity to be a blessing to others. “Whoever is generous to the poor lends to the Lord, and he will repay him for his deed.” – Proverbs 19:17

Thus, material things are temporary and it will perish so, we should invest in things that really matters which is our treasure in Heaven.

“Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” – Matthew 6:19-21
