5 Things God Wants Us To Do As A Christian
We all know that God created us to be a vessel of honor and to fulfill His Word here on earth. He wants us to live according to our purpose, to make Him happy and pleased Him. However, due to the hustle and bustle of this world we tend to forget why God created us and what He actually wants for us as a person and a Christian. So, here are some reminders and some of the things that God wants you to be according to His Will and Word.
God wants you to fully trust Him.
“Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the Lord our God.” – Psalm 20:7
God wants us to overcome our doubts and fully trust Him in all circumstances. “When I am afraid, I put my trust in you.” – Psalm 56:3. He also wants us to believe in His promises and to have faith in Him. Remember, He is our Creator, Father, Redeemer, Salvation, Healer, Provider and everything in our lives. He knows us well and He has a greater plan for us. So, commit your life to Him and talk to Him in prayer regarding your plans, problems and needs and surely He will hear you. “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.” – Proverbs 3:5-6
To love others as He has loved you.
“A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” – John 13:34-35
This Bible passage tells us to love one another as Christ loved us — it is a commandment that we should follow and obey as a person and a Christian. He also commanded us to love our neighbors and enemies too. “But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be children of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous.” – Matthew 5:44-45. He wants you to do good deeds, to include everyone in your prayers and to let the love of God shine through you. So, practice patience, show kindness and forgive the people who have hurt you or cause you pain. “But love your enemies, do good to them, and lend to them without expecting to get anything back. Then your reward will be great, and you will be children of the Most High, because he is kind to the ungrateful and wicked.” – Luke 6:35
He wants us to live according to His will.
“When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” – John 8:12
God wants us to keep His commandments, to walk in the right path and to live by His Word. “So you shall keep the commandments of the Lord your God by walking in his ways and by fearing him.” – Deuteronomy 8:6. God wants you to obey His Word, to do what is right, listen to His instructions and to fulfill His plan for you. “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.” – 2 Timothy 3:16-17. Thus, obeying God’s Word and following His will is an act of worship and it pleases God; and when you please Him, he will reward you too. “As for other matters, brothers and sisters, we instructed you how to live in order to please God, as in fact you are living. Now we ask you and urge you in the Lord Jesus to do this more and more.” – 1 Thessalonians 4:1
To share the gospel with others.
“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.” – Romans 1:16
Sharing God’s Word is part of our duty as a Christian. “He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.” – Mark 16:15. So don’t be ashamed of your faith and share it to everyone as much as possible. Be the light of this world and a living testimony to the unbelievers; and share the gospel in your workplace or home. Pray for courage and testify the mercy, kindness and goodness of the Lord and tell them how God has changed your life. “My mouth will tell of your righteous acts, of your deeds of salvation all the day, for their number is past my knowledge. With the mighty deeds of the Lord God I will come; I will remind them of your righteousness, yours alone.” – Psalm 71:15-16
To seek Him always.
“Look to the Lord and his strength; seek his face always.” – 1 Chronicles 16:11
God wants you to spend time with Him and to give Him your undivided attention — have devotion with Him, talk to Him and pray without ceasing. “Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” – 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18. God made us to be His companion and he wants us to have an intimate relationship with Him. Dive deeper into God’s Word and increase your knowledge about His attributes and Promises. “But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and forever! Amen.” – 2 Peter 3:18
He also wants us to display the characteristics of Jesus by manifesting the fruit of the Spirit. “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.” – Galatians 5:22-23. Thus, God wants us to recognize Him, to Honor and glorify His Name in all circumstances. And, he wants you to strengthen your faith and spiritual life by attending church regularly and listening to your minister’s preaching and sermons — to gain an understanding of His will and purpose in your life.
