3 Practical Ways to Bond With Your Spouse

“And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight…” – Philippians 1:9

Having quality time with your spouse is very challenging, especially when you are raising a family and busy with your family’s needs. However, spending time alone with your spouse at least once in a while is important to keep and strengthen your marriage.

And, if you are someone who doesn’t have a budget for fancy date nights or travel with your better half, don’t despair. Here are some ways to have fun and connect with your spouse without breaking the bank.

1.Workout together.

“Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers.” – 3 John 1:2

As a Believer, we all know that our body is the temple of God, so we should take care of it. And, one of the best and practical ways to enjoy your quality time with your husband or wife is to work out together. Check your free time in your calendar and go to your community gym or simply do some bodyweight exercises in your homes such as plank, pushups, squats, sit-ups, and lunges. Be active as you can and don’t let your busy schedules to get in the way. Explore your community, ride a bike, walk your pet in the park, swim or join in a fun run or marathon together.

2. Have a date night at home.

“Do two walk together unless they have agreed to do so?” – Amos 3:3

Date night in a fancy restaurant is very expensive nowadays. So, try to have an intimate date at home — cook together, decorate your dining table, set up a table in your garden or have a picnic on your floor. Light some scented candles to boost your moods, play some music, use a fancy dish set and garnish your food with love. Enjoy your date at home and reconnect with each other.

3. Start doing a 100 Days of Grace and Gratitude Devotional Journal together.

“My child, pay attention to what I say. Listen carefully to my words.” – Proverbs 4:20

This activity will bring you closer to God together and it will have a big impact on your relationship. Seek God’s face every day and thank Him for His blessings and grace in your lives. Set aside some time in your day and read this devotional book and write your thoughts, prayers, and plans in a devotional journal together.

Fall in love all over again with your spouse with these activities and create more memories together. Also, make your relationship get deeper and healthier by having constant communication with each other — reminisce about the past, write some note or card to your spouse and always show and express how much you love them.
