How to Spend More Time With Your Family at Home

“…let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.” – 1 John 3:18

Sometimes spending quality time with our family seems to be our last priority because we are all busy with the hustle and bustle of life. However, one of the keys to having a happy and healthier relationship with your family is to spend time with them. Thus, showing your affection to your loved ones doesn’t have to be expensive — so, here are some ways to spend quality time with your family in the comfort of your home.

  1. Family Meal Time is Important

“Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.” – Acts 2:46-47

As a parent, we should know the importance of having a family mealtime. Sharing and eating with your family is very important in our walk of life and it will keep us physically and spiritually healthy. If you and your family have a different time frame or schedule or if you feel that time doesn’t permit you to have a regular family mealtime at home, don’t lose hope! Just grab your calendar or planner and see your family’s schedule and plan ahead. Having a family mealtime at least once in a while will also make a big difference. Ask them if they want anything on your family mealtimes such as food and beverage or encourage your children to prepare foods with you. Bake or cook together with your daughter and wear a matching apron while having fun in the kitchen. Enjoy your family mealtime and talk about love and God’s grace in your family. Thank God for the blessings in your life and for allowing your family to spend time together.

2. Find Time To Do Arts and Crafts At Home

“Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men…” – Colossians 3:23

Surprise your kids with scrapbooking or Bible journaling set and gather them in your living room or dining table. Calligraphy, coloring and Bible journaling is popular nowadays and it is one of the best hobbies that you and your family should try. Make this time memorable with your family by serving their favorite cookies or cake and a cup of relaxing and soothing tea.

3. Redecorate Your Family Nest

“By wisdom, a house is built, and through understanding, it is established; through knowledge, its rooms are filled with rare and beautiful treasures.” – Proverbs 24:3-4

Do your family nest needs a little touch-up? Redecorating your home is a fun and thrilling activity for your family, so plan ahead and ask for their opinion — rearrange your furniture, paint your walls and decorate your nest in one accord. Also, Christmas in July theme is a great idea for home decors this month. Fill your home with laughter and nice things that give Glory to the Lord

Creating memories and spending time with our family regularly has many benefits — it will improve our overall health and will create a stronger bond with each member of the family. Thus, these precious time and memories have a big impact on your child’s development and growth.
