3 Ways to Promote God’s Word In Your Home as a Christian Mother
“We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God.” – 2 Corinthians 5:20
As an ambassador of Christ and a mother, our duties are not limited to cleaning and tidying up our home and to do other household chores — we all have a responsibility to instill God’s Word to our children and in our abode.
Here are 3 ways to promote God’s Word in your home.
1. Be wise when decorating your home.
She watches over the affairs of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness. – Proverbs 31:27
Decorating your home is a fun and thrilling task for every homemaker. However, as a Christian homemaker, you should be wise when decorating your home and make sure that your home is filled with the things that inspire, motivate and give happiness to your family. Putting your family’s favorite verse or a Scripture artwork on the center of your living room wall is a great idea. Also, fill up your kitchen cabinets and cupboards with faith-filled inspired tea sets, mugs, tumblers and other knick knacks. Make your home feel warm, cozy and inviting by putting a scented candle on your coffee or dining table. Decorating your home with God’s Word will remind you and your family of God’s love and faithfulness everyday and it will also inspire you when you are having a bad day.
2. Encourage your children to pray with you.
“Then Jesus told his disciples a parable to show them that they should always pray and not give up.” – Luke 18:1
Remember, we are our child’s first teacher, so we should train them according to God’s Word and Will. Teach them that prayer is a powerful weapon of the Believer and lead them to pray with you before bedtime or before starting your day. “Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.” – Proverbs 22:6 However, if your children are all grown ups, initiate a family prayer time at least once in a while.
3. Nurture your family with God’s Way and Truth.
“These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.” – Deuteronomy 6:6-7
Discipline your children according to the Bible and nurture them with God’s Way and Truth. Avoid meaningless or senseless talk in your home and always talks about God’s love and grace in your life. “Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.” – Ephesians 4:29
Engage in some activities that will make a strong bond with your family and ignite your family’s faith by doing arts and crafts at home such as Bible journaling, coloring, cooking, baking, gardening, etc.
Make sure that your children will grow up in a Christ-centered home where they feel loved, secured and nurtured. Thus, having a home filled with God’s Word and values is an essential for your family’s walk of life.
