3 Wonderful Traits of a Godly Mother

“Her children rise up and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her.” – Proverbs 31:28

Being a mother is a great blessing and a reward from the Lord. However, this calling is a very serious and crucial job for every woman. And, as a Christian mother, we should serve as a role model to our children and we should possess Christ-like characteristics to succeed in this journey.

Here are 3 wonderful traits a Godly-mother must have and demonstrate to create a lovely home.

A beautiful example of God’s love.

“And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them.” – 1 John 4:16

A godly mother’s love is a beautiful example of God’s love. She loves her children more than her life and she’s willing to do everything just to make her children happy. She is the epitome of selfless love and her love is incomparable — she puts her children’s need first before her own. She is also kind, compassionate and forgiving. “Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.” – Ephesians 4:32

She spends time with the Lord daily.

“Look to the Lord and his strength; seek his face always.” –  1 Chronicles 16:11

Her relationship to God is her priority and she always makes time to seek God. She starts her day with a prayer and meditates the Word through reading the Bible and writing on her devotional journal. “I get up early in the morning to pray to you. I trust what you say. Late into the night I stay awake to think about your word.” – Psalm 119:147-148

She is a teacher and disciplinarian.

“Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.” – Proverbs 22:6

A godly mother will set a high standard and instill values at home. She has the responsibility to teach her children about God’s Way and Truth. She also encourages her children to read the Bible, pray, go to church and have a deeper relationship with the Lord. “These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.” – Deuteronomy 6:6-7 A godly mother is also a great disciplinarian to her children — she did not tolerate disobedience. “My son, do not despise the Lord’s discipline, and do not resent his rebuke, because the Lord disciplines those he loves, as a father the son he delights in.” – Proverbs 3:11-12

A godly mother is a reflection of God’s glory and she is also a homemaker, prayer warrior, her child’s comforter and counselor. “She speaks with wisdom, and faithful instruction is on her tongue.” – Proverbs 31:26
