4 Tips for Christian College Students
College life is very challenging as you will encounter many struggles and challenges while living on your own away from your parents. However, it is also the best time for Christian college students to strengthen their faith and understand that God is the source of their strength and success. Don’t let your faith be shaken and remember you are not living alone with these Christian college student tips.
1. Put God First
“In everything you do, put God first, and he will direct you and crown your efforts with success.” – Proverbs 3:6
Your relationship with God should always be your top priority even in your college days where your schedule is hectic. Recognize Him as your God, Savior and source of strength–engage in daily prayer and reading the Devotional Bible. Spending a few minutes in praying and reading the Bible before leaving your dorm will help you remain focused on Him. It will also make you effective and inspired throughout the day at school.
2. Attend Sunday Service and Bible Studies
“So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” – Romans 10:17
Getting up on Sundays and spending time in your church is important. Even if you are living away from your home, attending Sunday services and Bible studies on a regular basis is a must. Spending time and hearing the Word through your pastor or minister is the best way to increase faith.
3. Share Your Faith with Neighbor or Roommate
“… Love your neighbor as yourself. There is no commandment greater than these.” – Mark 12:31
If you have a non-Christian roommate, take this opportunity to share your faith. Invite them to church, college ministry and other events and share them the Word of God. Encourage him/her to read the Bible and other devotional book. Pray for the love of Jesus to shine through you so that they would come to know Jesus Christ as their Savior too.
4. Start Living a Healthy Life
“Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies.” – 1 Corinthians 6:19-20
Take advantage of the amenities in your dorm or apartment, be healthy as you can. Always carry a reusable bottle or tumbler to keep you hydrated throughout the day. Eat healthy foods and exercise regularly. Keep a healthy mind through daily prayer and meditation of His Word.
College life isn’t easy, but cultivating a deeper relationship with God will help you feel secure and relaxed while living away from home.
