Make Journaling a Daily Habit

Journaling is one of the most awesome and effective tools to keep control of your thoughts and feelings throughout each day.  Generally, it is the process of maintaining a journal or a record of your life’s events and experiences, thoughts and feelings (e.g. beliefs, hopes, dreams, and expectations) concerning your life.

Journaling is a form of meditation which allows you to connect deeply within your inner self and lets you express your deepest thoughts and emotions with a pen and paper.  It also helps you to deliberately focus on aspects of your life you want to focus more often like bible journaling and gratitude journaling.

Today, one of the most popular tools to meditate on the Word of God in a most creative way is bible journaling— where faith and art are mixed together. There is no rule in bible journaling; the approach is entirely up to you. Perhaps use different colored pencils or use transparent stickers for highlighting meaningful Scriptures in your Bible, write and draw your thoughts and reflections on the margins of the bible. Or use a separate journal to record inspiring Scriptures as you reflect on God’s faithfulness and promises. Whatever approach you prefer, the purpose is the same—to meditate on God’s Word and cultivate your faith each day.

Another one is gratitude journaling, a great way to develop and cultivate a grateful attitude and a cheerful heart. Gratitude journaling is pretty easy — simply use a plain notebook or a lovely grateful journal, count your blessings and write down each of them every night before you go to bed.  Also, use a gratitude journal to keep track of your prayer requests and create written testimonies to remind you of God’s faithfulness. Going back to each page of your gratitude journal over and over allows you to reflect on God’s goodness and thus brings you joy and hope even in the times of sorrow and difficulty. Keeping a daily gratitude journal is a perfect way to ensure you experience the benefits of gratitude when you need it most.

Bible journaling and gratitude journaling is your daily journey with God. Be creative and have fun designing them to make journaling a daily habit!
