You Don’t Need to Bear Your Cross Alone
Pain, disappointments and difficulties are inevitable. And when life seems cruel and circumstances are overwhelming, we tend to be discouraged or to give up. Nevertheless, realizing that you are not alone, that each one of us has a cross to bear (whatever it is) is truly a good way to cope with pain and sufferings.
The temptations in your life are no different from what others experience. And God is faithful. He will not allow the temptation to be more than you can stand. When you are tempted, he will show you a way out so that you can endure. 1 Corinthians 10:13
A Cross to Bear is a heartwarming movie about a young woman in her early twenties named Erica Moses (Danielle Deadwyler) who is abandoned by her mother and lives by herself until she meets her wealthy musician boyfriend, Trey (Karon Joseph), but eventually dumped her too (without knowing that she is pregnant) due to her drinking addiction.
Nowhere to turn to Erica is compelled to live in an abandoned building with her newborn child and other homeless people. But she hit the rock bottom when she wakes and finds herself in a Woman’s Shelter and finds out that she lost her baby in one tragic night due to her drinking.
Joan ((Kim Fields) is a former nurse who runs the Joan’s Home, a place of refuge to help young female runaways, refugees and vagabonds. Joan tells Erica how she finds her on the streets and brought to the house hysterical and devastated. Will Erica find forgiveness for losing her child due to her neglect? Will she be able to pick up the broken pieces of her life and live again? With the help of the people she meets in Joan’s Home, she fights to get her life back and builds relationships that will transform her life forever.
A Cross to Bear is a great story that conveys a powerful message that you are not alone to bear your cross. Knowing that you are not alone bearing your cross gives you a sense of community, of friendship, of companionship— a boost that gives you strength to carry on.
We don’t need to bear our cross alone. Remember, God is our faithful friend; He is our refuge in times of trouble.
